Is carsharing the same as carpooling?
No. Carsharing provides members access to vehicles 24/7 without the burden of car ownership. Imagine…all the convenience of driving, with no added costs. You pay for only your actual usage. Never pay for another oil change, ever!
Who buys the gas?
We do. You pay only your minimal monthly membership fee (to cover administrative costs) and your per mile and per hour fees: gas, insurance, and maintenance included! How's that for simple?
Does carsharing cost less than owning a car?
For most folks, yes! AAA estimates that car owners who drive 10,000 miles per year spend approximately $6,000 per year on their vehicles. Typical carshare usage runs about $600-$1,000 per year. That's nearly 1/6th of the cost! You do the math. Carsharing helps members take control of their transportation costs. You actually save money by driving less!
Do I need a credit card?
To keep our billing system simple, we prefer that you pay using your credit or debit card. However, we will accept a refundable security deposit if necessary. Please email info@ashlandcarshare.com for more information.
Can I donate my new-ish car and become a member?
Absolutely. The value of your car can be traded for membership credits, which would essentially allow you to drive (for quite a while) for free! Follow this link to read about a woman who did just that!
